How do I record?

Press and hold the green heart (that's Foss), talk, and let go. A quick tap starts a hands-free recording; tap again to stop. You'll feel a haptic when the mic goes hot and again when it stops.

Where do my recordings live?

Every recording is saved on your phone first. Open History (the clock icon) to play anything back, read and edit transcripts, or swipe to delete. The raw audio files are also visible in the iOS Files app under FOSS. If you sign in with Apple or email, FOSS also queues a private cloud copy for resilient transcription; processing audio is removed after transcription or within 24 hours.

My note says "pending" or "transcribing"

The audio remains on your device — transcription just hasn't finished. FOSS makes up to three automatic attempts when capture finishes or the app returns to the foreground. To try immediately, open the note in History and tap Retry Transcription. FOSS requires on-device recognition; if it is unavailable for your language or device, your audio remains saved. Signed-in notes can still use the private cloud transcription path.

Recording won't start

Check iOS Settings → FOSS → Microphone is enabled. The app will show the reason under the heart whenever it can't record.

How do I export or delete everything?

Settings (gear icon) → "Export transcripts & metadata" for a JSON export, or "Delete all captures" to wipe everything. Deleting the app also removes its active app container. Copies you exported, and copies retained by your Apple device-backup settings, are managed separately.

How do I sign out or delete my account?

Open Settings → Account. Sign Out removes the secure session from this iPhone. Delete Account schedules removal of your FOSS cloud profile, audio, and transcripts. Local captures remain until you separately delete them, so a temporary network problem cannot erase your only copy.

What's the friendship bar?

A local familiarity meter based on the time span, consistency, and amount in your saved notes. It does not use hidden integrations or claim that Foss has already assessed you. Tap it to see what would raise it.

Can I connect Calendar, Health, Oura, Whoop, Google Calendar, Slack, or Teams?

Not in this version. FOSS does not show connection controls, request their permissions, or share your notes with any of those services.
